our inland areas transporting that hot, dry air all the way up to the coastline. this wind will relax a little bit as we make our way through the morning. but right now, some very blustery conditions across the north bay, especially petaluma right now. 37 mile per hour winds. so especially windy for you to get this morning. started. take a look at where we're sitting with radar, though, any sort of marine layer is pushed well away from the coastline. and that means that it is nothing but the sunshine today. like i mentioned, one of those rare days, you can truly soak in the sun at the ocean right now. temperatures are already warm to kick off the morning. alameda sitting at 68 degrees right now, hartley falling out of the 70's overnight, santa rosa and sonoma. also at 68 degrees to get the morning kicked off later on today. we are going to be looking at daytime highs that reach into the upper 80's, maybe a 90 degree or 2, but really focus on that coastal member getting up into the mid to even upper 70's

the vandalism but has not been able to prove it. he's grateful to have the support of shea oakland community who he believes will overcome this adversity. he says they're not going anywhere. he's going to get that one of few for and then let's make a nice to get it by my side in the give up with news in oakland, dan thorn. >> kron 4 news. >> well, the man behind a double hit and run led police on a wild pursuit through the city has been identified. police say 54 year-old jefferson romney was behind the wheel of a blue and white mustang on tuesday when he hit 2 pedestrians. one of the tenderloin and the other, a 14 year-old girl in north beach police chase, robbie, for about an hour and a half before. finally stop at green and embarcadero. we're told both people who are hit, they're going to be ok, but the teenage girl is still in the hospital. she's a fractured shoulder and ankle booked on multiple charges. >> police san francisco, they are investigating a suspicious death. this happened in the

tenderloin. >> well, police say they found that body of a woman right near taylor and eddy streets on sunday. the medical examiner is calling the death suspicious and no arrests have been made. the victim's identity has yet to be released. well, people gathered in berkeley to rally in support of the school district being usd superintendent anika form awful testify before congress on what is being done to handle the rise in anti-semitism in schools. all 4 sarah stinson has that story. >> dozens of parents and community members rallied at the old city hall in berkeley wednesday in support of the superintendent and the kia forte. more thelle. they thought she did an amazing job. more thought was one of 3 school leaders who are grilled by u.s. house republicans about how they're handling a rise in anti-semitism since the conflict erupted between israel and palestine. in october. we have. >> teachers that are teaching hate to our kids and showing it students being a feeling featful for this. do they are?

they found transfer to another school the u.s. department of education is investigating. be usd over accusations. the district has failed to address, quote, nonstop severe and persistent bullying of jewish students. more thelle defended the district's actions. if we have a concern or complaint about anti-semitism or any form of hate. >> we take it very seriously. we investigate and we take action pending the outcome of that investigate hours after the congressional hearing, community members rallied in support of the district. people held up signs that read defended berkeley schools and congress fund education, not genocide. and the fact of headlines. >> the headlines. this liz jackson is a jewish mom of 2 kids in berkeley unified. she and other parents at the rally say they feel education should not be censored.

>> we teach them that. it's not safe to talk about genocide on we're in danger ourselves and we're in danger or problem is that their representatives and many people, parents and community members think that only one perspective should be taught. and the other side is all about terrorism. and that's not right. it's racist. back in november, more than 12,000 parents and community members in berkeley center letter. >> to the board of education and superintendent complaining about anti-semitism in the classroom. we reached out to some of those parents, but they could not speak to us in time for this report. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in the newsroom. back to you. >> well, police in the north, they are looking for a man, they say tried to staff somebody with a knife and held bird. police are looking for 29 year old damien, a sorrow. police say the sorrells slashing cars in the parking lot of the hillsborough community center. the person was sitting in that car and got out. that's saw real tried to stab them. the victim got

away with only a cut to the hand, the story is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder. if you see him get hillsboro police a call. pleasant police arrested a woman earlier this week for stabbing her husband. police responded to a domestic dispute call at an apartment building just off owens dry. one man dealing with stab wounds. us rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. there. the woman was arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder. none of the identities have been released and that investigation there is ongoing. well, a pet owner in east palo alto is now facing thousands of dollars in veterinary bills after discovering her cat have been shot. >> something on the side and that this is lee broken it right here. see it. >> swami glenn is showing us the whole. she found her cat cast name is baby. now she took him to the vet and an x-ray showed he had a bullet in him. andrew was discovered last month. glenn initially

thought babies let was because of a cat fight. now he needs 2 surgeries once removed the bullet and the other to repair his leg. >> many people do not have an extra $5,000, you know, laying around for their pet as much as they would want. >> john quinn is a program director for guardian hill. nonprofit helps pet owners pay for vet care, quizzes, vet bills of skyrocketed since the pandemic. the nonprofit is raising money to help cover some of the bill. in the meantime, glenn is going to keep him baby indoors. fire in oakland as residents calling for more help from officials. the fire erupted tuesday inside of an abandoned building. this is east 8th street right near laney college. neighbors say this area has a history of problems and it's been ongoing for them now. nobody was hurt, but officials say they have responded to other fires here in the past. one neighbor who didn't want to go on camera says a lot of people don't feel safe walking outside anymore.

things you to know today. we sincerely a looking for a shooting suspect after a driver was found dead in a car crash. investigators say they found a driver with a gunshot wounds sunday night. anybody with any information you're asked to call police. and google. they're going to be leaving one market plaza in san francisco when their lease expires. google spokesperson confirmed with kron 4. the company will move out of one markets fear later on this

year. google says employees who are based in one market's spear tower are going to be moved to other nearby san francisco building. and 2 children had to be taken to the hospital after they were exposed to high levels of carbon monoxide found at sunrise middle school in san jose 5 who say they got a call yesterday morning about several people on campus having a hard time breathing crews out to they were able to find where the carbon monoxide was coming from. and thankfully they got rid of it. congresswoman barbara lee officially endorsed congressman adam schiff in the race for senator dianne feinstein's seat. she's made that announcement social media yesterday. lost a shift in the primary election. the congressman will face former baseball star and the public and steve garvey in the november election. >> republican has not won a statewide election in california since 2006. all right. welcome back. let's talk about the weather today. john has been talk about where some with their in the middle

of a summer feeling and it feels good morning. yeah, it is straight up. some are feeling out there today. >> and we're going to spend the next few days with that heat, especially for inland areas, but all the way out to the coastline today is going to be where one of those rare san francisco beach days looking at the golden gate bridge skies are crystal clear right there. any sort of wind is pushing up against the coastlines that cooler air not winning out today. it's rather the hot offshore air that is pushing in. that's because of a low pressure area city immediately to our east and the high pressure ridge to our west. that gradient between the both israeli stirring up this dry, offshore wind. and that means are for may 14th. 18th outlook is showing much above average temperatures all across not just the bay area, but the state in general. you can see this dry offshore wind really kicking up in the north bay mountains right now. but out of the north and the east,

so transporting what's normally that hot, dry air from the central valley pushing it, not just to the bay but all the way out to the coastline because of this. we do have some wind advisories. these are set to expire 08:00am this morning. little bit of good news. winds will relax a bit towards midmorning into the rest of the day. which does mean today is just going to be more enjoyable for getting outside specially for those of you to near the coastline today, spots like half moon bay rising well near 80 degrees up to 79 degrees for your daytime high this afternoon. just very, very warm out there for sure. let's get a look at some of the details across the bay area. so san francisco itself, we'll be looking at temperatures in the low 80's for mission and financial districts. daly city getting up to 80 degrees while burlingame up to 85 degrees today. further south in the bay redwood city nearing 90 right ther on the peninsula. san jose and campbell, up to 87 while fremont on the bayshore at 86 degrees. that's

actually warmer than some areas. further inland will be some of our hottest spots today. walnut creek and concord getting up to 88 degrees for yrur daytime highs this afternoon. same for you up in santa rosa. now, as far as the next 7 days are concerned, our inland areas will stay hot, but we will have some cool ocean air slipping back in at the coast as soon as tomorrow for a coastal areas. so if you're looking for a hot day on the beach, today is the one tomorrow we're back down in the 60's. if you're just enjoying this hot summer weather, what we've got plenty more of it ahead. we do cool down a little bit to the start of next week, but still looking pretty warm, especially for inland spots. as for your roads right now just a little bit breezy on some of our eastern west bridge spans like the bay bridge. 8 minutes to make your crossing there. and crystal clear skies ahead. we are looking at dry and very much so fog and cloud-free conditions. so once the traffic picks up eventually, at least you're not going to have to contend with any of that, right? all right, john,

thank you for that. eastbound highway, 37 right between the lail and sonoma county. >> are going to be closed again this weekend because they're repave it work start tomorrow at 10:00pm. well, going to reopen monday by 05:00am. time now, 5.18, in the east bay. questions remain on whether a potential steering malfunction on an electric car was actually responsible for a crash that killed a pleasant and family kron four's. dan kerman has that story. >> it was 2 weeks ago when a family of 4 was killed on foothill road near stone ridge drive when the vehicle they were driving, lost control, hit a pole and then crashed into a tree before bursting into flames. the vehicle in question vinfast a new entry into the electric vehicle market. now an unidentified person is filed a complaint with the national highway traffic safety administration or nitsa describing what appears to be this crash and complaining about the car's steering system. the complaint seems to come from the owner

of the 2023 vinfast vf 8 who admits to having steering problems before loaning the card to a co-worker who died in the crash. the complaint says the steering wheel automatically maneuvered to the right direction. however, the contact was able to regain control of the steering wheel and maneuvered into the correct lane. the context stated the failure recurred where the lane assist was turned on by default and it would automatically move the steering wheel. the contact was concerned that the failure, rick heard while the co-worker was driving, that raises questions about the vehicles, lane assist feature the way these link keeping assist systems generally work. >> is you have a camera that's mounted behind the wind above the mirror. typically that's looking forward. looking looking ahead at the road and it's looking for the lane lines. the lane markings. and then i'm sending that signal. it certainly recognizes the lane markings will send that

signal electronic control unit in the vehicle that is tied to your steering. sam abuelsamid is an auto industry analyst with guidehouse insights. he says it's not unusual for an automaker to have issues when they launch a new vehicle, especially. >> when it has new features and technology, it's designed to keep you in the land. however, you know, the all need to be calibrated properly. the camera needs to be calibrated the steering and will need to be calibrated and it could be that what's happening with these been fast vehicles is that the cameras not properly calibrated. and so it's thinks that the cars in a position where it's not that it's a website includes a total of 9 complaints about the 2023 vinfast vf. 8, 3 citing steering problems. will now investigate. but experts say not to expect any action any time soon. >> it can take a long time before they take any action. sometimes years. kron four's reached out to vinfast for

comment but did not hear back the cause of the pleasanton crash remains under investigation. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> in the north bay, santa rosa, police are looking for the driver of a pickup truck connected to a hit and run last month injured a motorcycle rider. this is one of the intersection of poplar avenue in airway drive. so take a look. police believe the truck is a gray ford f-one 50 model somewhere between 2004, 2008, the parents stickers in the top drivers side corner of the windshield. it has distinctive black rims, no front license plate. rectangle fog lamps and a silver sidesteps. anybody with any information you're asked to contact santa rosa police. this week marks national nurses week and a group of nurses at laguna honda hospital asking for more than just a pat on the back. nurses are going to get today outside the hospital between 2 and 04:00pm asking the city to

explosion before fire started behind their apartment complex tuesday night. investigators say the 54 year old man responsible set off a homemade fireworks. he was later arrested. all fireworks are prohibited in marin county. on the peninsula, a registered offender was charges. san mateo county monday on suspicion of possessing child. sheriff's office as they search. alexandra jessops home in the area of emerald hills and found child. they say he was booked into the maguire correctional facility for failing to register as a offender and on suspicion possessing obscene material involving a minor. the same was also found to be in violation of his probation. fbi now warning about criminals targeting victims with ai. they say the cyber criminals are using ai to call voice and videos of your family members try to convince potential victims to give out sensitive information. fbi

hot. so if you're not used to be, definitely stay hydrated as you're getting out there. and as you're getting outside, maybe head to the coast today and today it's going to be one of those days. those rare francisco days. >> re can actually soak in some sunshine at the beach in really feel warm. we're looking outside at the bay bridge from mount tam right here. not a single cloud in the sky. it is a dry offshore. wind did pretty gusty for the north bay this morning. take a look at those winds in petaluma around 40 miles per hour right now, all this wind is out of the north and east. so it's pushing any sort of that cool coastal air far away from us. that's the temperature spike that we do have today. not a single cloud in the sky today. so you'll have brilliantly blue skies in temperatures. pretty warm already. pacific at 65 degrees. great morning for a jog at the beach. petaluma at 66 santa rosa at 68 degrees. currently later on today. daytime high, some of the hottest that they've been all season long near 90's inland mid 80's by the bay shore.

likes it or not. and essentially the new name would be san francisco, oakland bay area airport. take a look. we've got video up on your screen so i can break it all down for you. now the port of oakland says it's sees nothing wrong with adding san francisco bay to oakland airport's name while the city of san francisco doesn't has actually filed a lawsuit. you know, a federal lawsuit saying that the name would cause confusion and chaos for travelers, especially those who are not from the area. san francisco city attorney david chiu says he wants to work with oakland's board to try and meet with them and find a middle ground adding that they have several alternative names for the city to use, adding that it would be less confusing for travelers. take a listen. >> we have been off rain for weeks since oakland firtt proposed this renaming and unfortunately oakland has continued to rebuff our which is extremely disappointing. we've been concerned renaming is going to create immense confusion and chaos for travelers, particularly those who do not read or speak

english. we're worried about travelers who are going to miss flights and our hope had been to be able to sit down and talk with them and consider alternative names that would meet their goals but not infringe on our trademark. >> the oakland airport says the letter from david chiu with the offer to collaborate on a different name will be shared at today's board meeting at around 1 o'clock. however, they also add that the suit was prematurely. >> we just last night was live shot. but again, we're going to be following that vote in that potential name change throughout the morning. okay. we have another big story for you, google. they've actually announced they're going to be leaving. the prominent waterfront office tower covers tran is live in the city with the details on that. so will what are you learning? >> well, it's right behind me. is that one market plaza? it's at the foot of market in this

just right around from the ferry building. so you can say this is beach front property when it comes to office locations within san francisco. but google has told its landlord at this location that come april of next year. we don't plan to renew our lease and we are going to shut this down this is very prominent because san francisco is suffering a public relations problem with so many businesses leaving san francisco entirely or shutting down many of its locations. and you can add google to that long list. so san francisco dealing with that. but google says, don't worry. san francisco, we're not leaving entirely because they have other locations within san francisco. but you can call this location pretty much their flagship. they're very proud of it. and they've been here since 2018, 300,000 square feet. take a look at your screen. we reached out to google and they responded to us early this morning. this is

say they got a call yesterday morning about several people on campus. they had a hard time breathing crews. they were able to find where the carbon monoxide was coming from and they got rid of it. let's head to the east bay because police a silly and are looking for a shooting suspect after a driver was found dead in a car crash. investigators say they found a driver with a gunshot wound in a solo car crash sunday night. this is on benedict drive right near 5.80, investigators believe the shooting happened in the same area just before the crash. anybody with any information you're asked to call police. just a breeze set to announce the next cohort of businesses that are going for to sup 8 in the vacant divide. the program, the program allows small businesses to host pop-up shops and vacant properties and community spaces in downtown san francisco. the goal is bring business people back to the downtown area. reid is set to make that announcement at wells fargo plaza at 12 30 this afternoon. well, a 50 acre housing site in southeast

hospitals, 16 clinics and they say what is specifically designed to be 8. nick, you ambulance. while another is advanced life support, ambulance and another is for critical care. patients and valley is going to be 111 this morning at saint louise regional hospital roy. 4 is your local election headquarters. there's a big fight in growing its growing over a major ballot measure aimed at making it a little tougher for local and state governments to raise taxes. california supreme court took up a lawsuit that calls for the taxpayer protection and government accountability at to remove from the november ballot if passed, require voters to approve every new state tax increase proposed by the legislature, but also change a number of votes needed for local citizen run tax initiatives go from a simple majority to at least two-thirds majority supporters of the lawsuits say the measure is legal because it would significantly revised the california state constitution and will prevent

>> on the north bay, dna technology helped the sonoma county sheriff's office identified a cold case victim from the 1960's. the sheriff's office says a woman's remains were found in february of 1967. down a steep cliff off of highway one just north of jenner. this air cause of death was listed as multiple fractures to her skull and ribs. she was very at the county of sonoma cemetery after attempts to identify her so fast forward to 2009, a san francisco state university professor and soon her body and examined it. deputies say the professor determined that she was a white woman between 40 to 46 years old and a victim of homicide. here's her photo on the screen. sheriff's office says they used dna to identify her really in cardona's cardenas last year. they say she was born in 1928. issues last known to live in san francisco. that was a strange and her family prior to her death. sheriff's office says they're hoping the public might have any information
